About the event

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and if you are seeking fun new ways to celebrate with your partner or BFF this year, think no further than your yoga mat.

The word ‘yoga’ means union in Sanskrit, and this is exactly what partner yoga aims to achieve – a uniting of two people.

Partner Yoga, also referred to as Couples Yoga, is a fabulous medium for building stronger communication and intimacy in your relationship, whether it is friendship, a family member, or your significant other. It creates space and time in your busy lives to focus on each other. You will spend time relaxing and de-stressing while being physically close and touching one another in ways that further reduce daily stressors and promote bonding. Physical touch helps slow heart rate and breathing, deepening relaxation for both partners while improving emotional bonding and empathy.

Partner yoga brings people together through movement, play, breath, touch and importantly, in this forum – through intimacy. Here are some of the benefits of partner yoga, and what it can bring to your relationship:

  • - Creative way to connect and spend time together
  • - Allows you to expand your practice and try new things
  • - Increase communication, bonding or intimacy with your partner
  • - Renews relationships physically and emotionally
  • - Enhances and cultivates physical and emotional support In relationships
  • - Deepen your compassion, trust, sensitivity and love for each other
  • - Restore connections and rebuild rapport
  • - Build trust and support as you help and depend on each other to balance or get into the poses
  • - Strengthens the bonds of relationships through verbal and non-verbal communication
  • - Firm physical support and gentle touch contribute to easing yoga partners’ body tensions

You'll explore yoga postures and flow sequences with your partner, integrated breath work, relaxation and meditation. Expect to make shapes with a partner, get into a series of partner-assisted poses or just simply have fun doing something together! Breathe and flow together on the mat, which gets you to greater ease and balance in your relationship off the mat. Happiness and satisfaction among couples are nurtured during the class and even after as they go home.

In celebration of love, join us for this valentine special edition of partner yoga. This is not just for romantic couples. Bring your friend, roommate, family member, or anyone you enjoy spending time with! This quality time well-spent will leave you both glowing with joy, gratitude and feeling a sense of bliss.

This class is suitable for all ages and levels of practice. Class will be hatha based (not Acro Yoga). Beginners with little or no experience are welcome to join as trainers will provide adaptation.

Yoga mats and props will be provided free during the session. However, if you prefer to use your own equipment, please feel free to bring them along for class.
